Many will recognize the Sparrow Lane label from having
seen it on the fine wines that also bare it. Vintner Phil Toohey,
the founder of Sparrow Lane, now has a line of vinegars with
a quality that rivals that of his wines. His traditionally produced
vinegars are hand made and aged in small oak casks. Careful attention
is given to the acid level of these vinegars so that they are
all soft and approachable.
Balsamic Vinegar: The Balsamic vinegar from
Sparrow Lane is 100% vinegar that derives it's flavor
solely from the cabernet Sauvignon grapes it is made from and
the traditional method of it's production and aging. No additives
are used to enhance the wonderful natural flavor of this fine
Balsamic Vinegar. We are very pleased to be able to offer this
great California product and we are confident you will be impressed
by it as well.
Cabernet Sauvignon Vinegar: The flavor of the
Cabernet Sauvignon Vinegar is fresh and reflects that of the
grape it is made from. A caramel flavor resulting from the aging
together with a slight aroma of smoke and cherries from the barrel
help to round this into a complex but balanced vinegar.
Chardonnay Vinegar: The Chardonnay white wine
vinegar reflects the color of honey. Its aging process has softened
the acids making this a delightfully versatile vinegar in the
kitchen. Its aroma is fresh and fruity with a lemon citrus fragrance.
The aging in small oak casks for 18 months has given the Chardonnay
vinegar a hint of French oak tastiness.
Champagne Vinegar: This elegant vinegar has
clear color that seems to sparkle in the bottle. Its aging has
left it with a fruity aroma with nuances of pears. While tart,
it is full bodied in flavor.
Zinfandel Vinegar: This latest vinegar in Sparrow
Lane's line is a natural for vintner Phil Toohey. Phil has
for years been a notable producer of some of the finest Zinfandels
found. He knows the wine well so you would expect his Zinfandel
Vinegar to display the spicy fruit that is so cachteristic of
the grape. And beleive me, he has hit the mark with this great
new vinegar! It is produced from 100% Zinfandel grapes grown
in the famous Anderson Valley of Sonoma County, California.
